Students on a field trip and other guests at the Arboretum in Arcadia were evacuated after a bear and two cubs dropped by for a visit on Friday, Nov.4.
No one was injured, said Deputy Maria Lucero, a sheriff’s spokeswoman. “Everybody is safe,” she added.
A staffer at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden called the Sheriff’s Parks Bureau at 10:19 a.m. and said a bear and two cubs had been seen there, according to Lucero.
As of the Friday afternoon, she said, the bears were up in a tree. Sheriff’s officials notified the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The Arboretum is located at 301 N. Baldwin Ave.
