British rock band Coldplay announced that it’s bringing its Music of the Spheres World Tour to a few stadiums on the West Coast and is coming to Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on Sept. 27 and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Sept. 30 with support from R&B star H.E.R. and singer-songwriter 070 Shake.
The tour kicked off in March 2022 and has been heralded as an immersive large-scale spectacle as it has played to sold-out audiences across North America, Europe and Latin America. The jaunt was also a part of the band’s experiment in sustainability and its commitment to cutting tour emissions by 50 percent, as well as the initiative to plant a tree for every ticket sold.
Tickets for these newly announced dates go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at Ticketmaster.com.
Coldplay was initially scheduled to bring this tour to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood for two evenings last April, however the band announced that it would have to shuffle around certain dates of the tour due to “logistical issues.” The band did, however, give fans a tiny taste of what its own massive tour would be like during a shortened performance at ALT 98.7-FM’s annual ALTer Ego Festival at the Kia Forum in Inglewood in January 2022.
Fans that originally had tickets for the Coldplay shows at SoFi stadium will have first crack at purchasing tickets to the new date at the Rose Bowl. They’ll receive presale information, which will take place starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, via email.
Coldplay is nominated for three Grammy Awards next month, including album of the year for “Music of the Spheres.” It’s the band’s ninth studio album and spawned the radio singles “Higher Power,” “My Universe” and “Let Somebody Go.” On this particular tour, the band has celebrated many of its biggest hits including “Yellow,” “Viva La Vida,” “Clocks,” “A Sky Full Of Stars” and more while also including many visual elements like LED wristbands for fans that are synced to the music, elaborate lighting and lasers and a fireworks spectacular.
