Fire crews contained and knocked down a two-alarm fire Monday morning, Dec. 26, at a large commercial building on the 200 block of South Sultana Avenue in Ontario in about an hour with no reported injuries, officials said.
The cause was under investigation.
Ontario firefighters responding to a call for a possible pallet fire about 5:45 a.m. Monday reported heavy smoke and fire coming from a 45,000-square-foot building where a pallet distributor and a small furniture retailer share space, Ontario Fire Department Battalion Chief Scotland Roeber said.
The monetary value of damage to the building was being determined.
Rancho Cucamonga, Montclair and San Bernardino County fire agencies assisted Ontario firefighters with the blaze, Roeber said. Ontario public works employees also helped.
AMR, Edison and SoCalGas officials sent personnel, too.
In all, 55 personnel were on-site Monday, Roeber said.
A comprehensive overhaul was underway Monday afternoon.
