Riverside Arts Academy is accepting enrollment for its fall music classes, which will begin the week of Sept. 17.
The classes, for ages 4 to 17, meet at the Cesar Chavez Community Center in Riverside.
This fall’s classes include band, strings and choir programs, a drums and percussion group, Riverside Children’s Choir, Riverside Youth Orchestra, Mariachi Juvenil de Riverside and a digital music production class that was introduced during Riverside Arts Academy’s summer program.
Auditions are required to participate in the Riverside Youth Orchestra, Riverside Children’s Choir and Mariachi Juvenil de Riverside, according to a news release. Auditions will be held 4-6 p.m. Aug. 19 and 26.
More than 150 students participated in the summer program, which concluded with a concert at the Cesar Chavez Community Center.
During the summer, Riverside Arts Academy also offered two masterclasses for student musicians, taught by violinist Samuel Fischer and soprano Andrea Flores.
The summer session also featured performances by the mariachi group and the Riverside Youth Orchestra at Riverside’s Concerts in the Park series in Fairmount Park.
“The summer program propels us to an excitement for the fall semester,” Nové Deypalan, Riverside Arts Academy’s music and program director, said in the news release. “We are looking forward to having students from our Music Discovery Class and our digital music production class from the summer continue with us in the fall.”
Riverside Arts Academy is a nonprofit arts-based youth development program that partners with the Riverside and Alvord unified school districts.
