A Riverside community singalong with a social justice theme is scheduled for Saturday, July 23, at a church.
Grammy-nominated vocalist Melanie DeMore is set to lead singers in civil rights anthems and newly composed songs about justice at a Seeds of Change Singalong at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5969 Brockton Ave., Riverside.
“This might be just the medicine you need,” Jerri Mendivel, director of the Riverside Resistance Revival Chorus, said in a news release.
The chorus has performed at street protests and concerts to raise awareness about issues such as gun violence, immigration reform and racial justice.
The community singalong is open to all who love to sing, the release states.
A donation of $10 per person is suggested. Singers are asked to sign up on Eventbrite or pay with cash the day of the event, and to bring proof of vaccination. Masks are recommended.
